History Competition


The Simon's Town Museum Phoenix Committee and South African History Online will be hosting our very first Albert Thomas History Competition. 

 

There are exciting CASH prizes and a large scope for young people aged between 13-30 to engage with the history of Simon's Town over the holidays. 

 

Themes that can be covered:

-      Why Simon’s Town?

-      Who Made Simon’s Town?

-      The Tragedy of Forced Removals

-      Simon’s Town Society

-      Simon’s Town and the Sea

-      Naval Traditions

-      The Sea and the Soil

-      Whaling and Fishing

-      Simon’s Town at War

-      Simon’s Town and the Sea

 

Formats that can be used:

-      A comic strip, graphic illustration, poetry

-      A video series no longer than 10 minutes in total

-      An essay of 3000 words

-      An illustration, painting, sculpture

-      A photo series, collage, print making

 

Closing Date: 15th April 2022 @12:00pm
